Heading back down to Cornwall, to a life where there are no restrictions. Woooohoooo..........
Saturday 2 April 2022
Back in St Ives. Yay! Why I ever decided to make Edinburgh my permanent home, I'll never know. Well actually I do know.................. because pre lock down I had a much better social life in Edinburgh.
The weather is horrendous here today and I have all the heating on, but do I care? I do not.
All restrictions were lifted here on 28th February 2022 and that might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but to me it's a massive deal. For example wearing a mask isn't exactly a huge deal, but if one is working in an environment where they have to wear a mask for the whole of their shift at work then that actually becomes a big deal.
A few of my Scottish friends (who are SNP supporters) claim that Scotland is miles behind England re lifting the Covid restrictions because of some super spreading variants which hit Scotland first. They claim that it's like measles and spreads really quickly. Mmmm............... I don't know whether that is true or not. I don't know enough about politics and science to know and to be honest, I don't really care.
Sunday 3 April 2022
My friend D, has come to stay for a few days. Let the socialising begin.
Friday 8 April 2022
D left yesterday and C arrives today for a few days. Yay! My social life is so much better in St Ives than it is in Edinburgh.
Sunday 10 April 2022
Had three sneezing fits this evening and was convinced I must have Covid. Did a test. It was negative. Phew. Just shows how paranoid I've become though. I sneeze and I think I have a deadly disease. No wonder everyone has so many mental health problems these days.

I think I need to re-evaluate my life?! I’ve never, ever, had a ‘life plan’ (stuff just happens) and until COVID I was bumbling along quite happily. COVID has had a HUGE impact on my life which will never, ever be the same again.
3 years ago I made the decision to return to Edinburgh and make it my permanent home.
OMG?! If I’d known then, what was going to happen, just one year later, my whole life would have been completely different.
Been back in St Ives for just over a week and loving it. …….And thinking I should just make the most of it until I’m too old to climb the hills???
I’m very lucky. I have homes in two of the most desirable locations in the UK. I have friends in both places. I’m financially secure and know that if I if I wanted a job in St Ives, I could get one tomorrow.
Life is short. Life is not a dress rehearsal.
BUT………. I’ve never planned anything in my life and now that I’m 63 years old (OMG doesn’t that sound old - my mother died when she was 65 and was the healthiest person ever) I feel I should have a ‘life plan’???
Sunday 17 April 2022
As of tomorrow masks are no longer mandatory in Scotland. Yay! You have no idea how happy this makes me. It may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but I’ve actually found wearing a mask really hard………..
I’ve not been able to wear my glasses because the minute I put a mask on they steam up and then I can’t see.
I’ve not been able to understand what a lot of people have been saying because their voice has been muffled.
I’ve constantly ended up with ridiculously smudged lipstick marks around the lower part of my face because wearing a mask smudges lipstick all over one’s face.
Wearing a mask at work for a four hour shift has seriously impacted on how well I have interacted with the customers.
………………..And………….. masks in England ceased being mandatory on 28th February 2022 and yet the COVID figures in Scotland are still huge………
This isn’t a ‘political’ post. I’m just posting this to remind myself as to how happy I’m feeling today. I won’t be back in Scotland for another couple of weeks but I’ll be ‘mask free’. Yay! Still don't understand why the lifting of restrictions in Scotland has taken almost two months longer than it has in England though.

My sisters, J&S, have come to stay for a few days.
Saturday 30 April 2022
Heading back to Edinburgh tomorrow. Anyone know what the rules are in Scotland now. Are there any rules. Have all restrictions really been lifted? I'm guessing I'll soon find out.
Monday 2 May 2022
Back to work in Wilkies today. Don't have to wear masks anymore and the screens from beside the till have gone. I'm guessing that when it's cold we can also have the doors shut.
I've got an appointment for Trixie, the Collie pup to have a check up at the vets on Wednesday and apparently I can go into the consulting room with her. They've asked that I put a mask on (well that's not back to normal then) which I'm happy to do because for the past two years I've either not been able to take her for a check up or if I have been allowed, I've had to hand her in and then stand outside and wait for her to be brought out.
It's taken longer than two years and Scotland is now saying that it's free of all restrictions. Is it?
From a personal point of view, I'm just glad that lock down/self isolating/mask wearing and all the other restrictions that we all just took for granted before Covid-19 struck are hopefully all in the past now.......................
Time will tell!!!
